October is probably my favourite month of the year. The wonderful colours of dying leaves give me a fuzzy warm feeling against the oncoming winter chill, and Halloween provides the perfect excuse to dim the lights and hide away under a blanket for a while, watching scary movies and eating popcorn. October has also quite recently spawned another one of my favourite events: Inktober.

For those of you who don’t know what Inktober is, it’s a drawing challenge to create an ink drawing (or any drawing really) for every day of October. There is a prompt sheet of single words that provide a daily theme and you are free to doodle away. For the past few years I have always tried to do complete this challenge, and every time I have failed. I get so far, but then life interrupts as it tends to do and I only get maybe a third of the drawings done. I used to beat myself up about this, get frustrated I couldn’t do a simple sketch a day, and as a result never shared any of the work I actually completed. Well this year I want to change that.

This year I realised that it doesn’t matter if you hit your own targets. Sometimes we can ask too much of ourselves and actually forget to be happy and proud of what we’ve actually accomplished, all because we didn’t tick a box. So here are some non-Alfonso related doodles for your enjoyment!
